SIZING INFO

HOW DO I TAKE MY MEASUREMENTS?

Working out your size can feel tricky as every brand is a little different so we want to take the mystery out of it for you by creating a standard RAPT size and helpin you to measure your body so you know what size to buy. Knowing your measurements is the best way to get garments that fit and flatter—saving you time, returns and disappointment.

WHY MEASUREMENTS MATTER

Brands use different sizing—one company’s size 12 might be another’s 14—so don’t rely on the number on the label. “Vanity sizing” and changing size standards over time coupled with the brands intended fit make getting your size right even more complicated these days. Always use your body measurements when choosing sizes and make sure you really lok at the garments on the model taking into account how the shoulders and arms fit, how wide the leg is or what length the top, dress or skirt might be on you looking at where it falls on the models body.

HOW TO MEASURE

Use a soft cloth tape measure, measure in your underwear or close-fitting clothing, stand straight and relaxed, and keep the tape level but not tight. Record measurements in your phone so you always have them on hand. The key measurements are:

  • Bust: Measure from the front, around your back, under your arms, across the fullest part of your chest.
  • Waist: Measure the narrowest part of your natural waist (where a belt would sit), usually above the belly button. Don’t suck in—measure naturally.
  • Hips: With your feet close together, measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks. Use a mirror to ensure the tape is level.
  • For leg length measre your inseam: Measure from the top of the inner thigh (crotch seam) down to the ankle or where you want the pant to finish, accounting for footwear.

TIPS FOR GETTING IT RIGHT 1ST TIME

  • Check each brands size chart and compare your measurements to their guides.
  • Read product descriptions for fit notes (e.g. roomy, slim, true to size).
  • Look at customer reviews for fit feedback from other Kiwi shoppers.
  • Keep your measurements saved for quick reference when ordering.

Keep your measurements handy (phone note or card) for future purchases. At Raptonline.co.nz we want your clothes to fit you—not the other way round.

RAPT STANDARD SIZE GUIDE

Using this size guide we aim to add our size recommendation gauge to garments as they arrive to help assist you get the right size and fit for your body. This will mean that some of our larger fit items will cater to a size 24 or even a 26 and some of our smaller fit garments may cater to a size 6. The difficult thing to get right on womens fashion sizing is how the designer 'intended' the garment to fit and how you 'want to wear it'. Some of our bands are deliberately very oversized as that is the intention of the designer but you may find that oversizing does not flatter your shape so we hope our size gauge and our FIT NOTES from Anj will help you find just the right fit for you!
