DESCRIPTION: A pair of small Rock Oyster shell fragments set on earring posts. Hand-gilded rims with 23k gold. Comes with jewellery display card (provenance story at the back) and charcoal grey matte cardboard jewellery box.
PROVENANCE STORY: Tio Reperepe or Rock Oysters are abundant in the intertidal zone in the north of the North Island. Oysters are filter feeders, straining planktonic algae from the water. Rock Oysters are symbols of strength, courage and survival. They also represent resilience & the willingness for transformation. These fragmented rock oyster shells from the Bay of Islands shores have been sea tumbled, smoothing out its naturally sharp edges. Dead shells ethically & sustainable collected from one of the shores of the Bay of Islands in the Far North of New Zealand.
SHELL SIZE: Approx 15 x 20mm. There will be slight size, shape and colour variations due to its natural elements.
EARRING POSTS: 10mm earring posts with clutches, stainless steel.
